Last Saturday evening I had the great pleasure of attending the latest iteration of the ASC Photo Gallery at the Clubhouse in Hollywood. If you’re not fully up to speed with it, here’s a little background from the ASC website:
Over 15 years ago, Francis Kenny, ASC, recognized the photography skills of ASC members. Exhibitions were held at various venues, receiving positive reactions from both industry insiders and the public. The ASC Photo Gallery, now located at the ASC Clubhouse, showcases diverse subjects captured using different cameras and post-processing techniques. Each image reveals the cinematographer’s interests, passion, and unique perspectives on the world, telling a compelling story in a single frame.
While I’m always amazed at the quality of the work, enormous credit must be given to Charlie Lieberman, ASC who was responsible for the printing of each photograph. His keen eye, exquisite taste and technical expertise were indispensable in making the night a smashing success.
Treat yourself to something different from the ASC by viewing the entire collection at https://theasc.com/society/asc-photo-gallery.
Limited edition prints and box sets are available for purchase: https://store.ascmag.com/collections/asc-photo-gallery?page=5
All Proceeds go to the Vision Committee fund for ASC Master Class scholarships.
Great exhibit! And always a good time, with good people, at the ASC clubhouse.
Always a joy to see a different perspective and aesthetic on this particular art form of ‘fine art stills’, from legends globally showcasing their ‘art of motion picture’… A wonderful and unique exhibition… Proud member… ASC ROCKS! ♥️
I wish I was there! Thank you for the post.
Richard, it was a great evening. Cinematographer vision on display. I started the silent auction of our brothers and sisters in the Unit Still Photographer Honoree exhibit at SOC’s Lifetime Acviement Awards, also for a charitable cause, The Vision Center at LA’s Children’s Hospital.
At ASC’s event I bought a print of Chuck Minsky, ASC’s “Palms” photograph that moved me very much with its painterly aspect. I also have a print of Meryl Streep by Melissa Moseley from the 2009 SOC awards honoring Melissa. Both are very special to me and I enjoy them in the walls in my home very much.
It’s terrific to celebrate our colleagues and support the arts! Looking forward to the next gallery.
