A year ago tomorrow, during an off-day on a shoot in London, I was privileged to get a private, one-on-one tour of the most significant recording studio in history. Abbey Road – formerly known as EMI – was incredible! Frighteningly modern, casually hip, completely adaptable and deservedly hallowed, it’s impossible to describe the thoughts and emotions that ran through me as I ascended those steps.
Relating to the theme of this blog, the hallways are lined with amazing photographs of the legendary musicians who have graced the premises. Beautifully printed and mounted, I was surprised that so many of them were previously unknown to me. My compliments to whomever curated the collection. They amplified the experience by artfully quoting the location’s incredible history.
If I need to elaborate on the studio’s significance in popular culture, please…humble yourself and dig out some information. And don’t just read. Listen. Your heart will thank you for it.
I’d also like to send out another thank you to Abbey Road Head of Studio Services Fiona Gillott for her warm welcome and for conducting the tour. Her delightful comportment fell right in behind a long line of geniuses, and I’m grateful for her hospitality!

What a joy it must have been to ascend those steps. What a piece of
music history. The Beatles arguably could be the most influential musical groups of all time. The place is so synonymous with them. A once in a lifetime opportunity! Good for you!
