When I started this blog during the Covid mess in July 2020, I had no idea I’d still be publishing it this far into the future. It’s been a pleasant surprise that despite the many distractions of work and life, my fascination with the subject has somehow continued to claim the day (two times a week, that is). While I’m sure the concept will run out of gas soon enough, for now I’m enjoying it – and I hope you are, too.
With that, let’s raise a toast to the great organization that has been the catalyst for so many of the topics I’ve addressed in this space – and has also given me so many opportunities to better myself as a cinematographer and to befriend some wonderfully kindred spirits.
From the June 1953 issue of American Cinematographer…

Rich, Congratulations to you as well as the ASC!
Thanks, Greg…it’s still fun!
Congratulations, Richard! I love reading your posts and I hope you’ll never stop having fun and content to publish.
Thank you, Luigi! I fully intend to continue…for now.
Richard, Just wanted to congratulate you on your 300th!
I admire your technological knowledge of cinematography
and your dedication to sharing that knowledge. Don’t run out of gas too soon. You have a lot left in the tank!
Thank you, Ken! I have no intention of pitching it in…
