BUSYNESS…

It always amazes me how busy you can be when you’re not actually on an official job.  The past three days have required my appearance at cinematography-related events held at Tiffen and BandPro in Burbank, as well as at the Tech Me Out Production Summit, which was presented at the Fuse LED stage in Glendale.  Apart from speaking on filters and a recent project I shot, I took part in some spirited Q&A sessions and mixed it up with many of the attendees for a long time afterward.  I’m no stranger to these sorts of things and always enjoy the experiences, especially when I’m able to pass on some knowledge.  The people, many of them students, were respectful, curious and eager to put forth their inquiries.  I was thankful for their interest!

As I’ve learned during similar duty at events such as NAB and CineGear Expo, getting out there and pressing the flesh can be an exhausting ordeal.  Despite our legendarily robust constitutions, it’s not something that comes naturally to most cinematographers, myself included.  I can’t say I didn’t have fun, so I should just leave it at that.  But you can bet that putting in a long day or night on set will always hold infinitely more appeal!
