Last Friday’s post featured the first part of an exposure test that’s found in a chapter I wrote for the just-released 11th Edition of the American Cinematographer Manual. Titled, Take Ownership of Your Sensor, it explains how to perform the test in fine detail.
Part 1 showed the sensor’s capabilities at the exact moment exposure took place at the lens; there was no assistance from the DI colorist other than correction of the normal takes. Below, In Part 2, you’ll find the same recording, but in this case the over- and underexposures have been balanced to match the normal one.
There are many lessons to be gleaned from this simple procedure. Buy the book to learn more!
